Choosing Your First Golf Clubs

Jan 15, 2015 5:34 PM
Buying golf clubs can be as exciting as learning the game itself. It is very easy to get caught up in the frenzy especially when presented with a lot of choices. However the only result that could come out of this is wasted money and most probably an ill-fitting set of clubs.

To avoid this frustrating scenario one should get a hold of himself or herself and follow these suggestions when choosing their first set of golf clubs.

1. Never Splurge. Ever. Price is never an indication of the quality of anything a golf club included. Paying a stiff price for something that does not fit ones skill level has rip-off written all over it. A legal rip-off if there ever is one. Remember that the primary consideration when choosing a golf club is appropriateness.

2. Try Before Buying. A club may look right but feels wrong at the same time. To ensure that one has chosen the right equipment try borrowing some from friends and family who are into golf. One may also go to practice ranges and take note of the golf clubs that worked best for him or her.

3. Look for Bargains. For someone that is still learning the game buying brand new equipment is not the best choice. The better alternative is to buy pre-owned golf equipments. Some people experienced golfers especially change clubs as often as they change clothes. Ask around. Some stores specialize on selling previously owned golf equipment. These places could actually yield very expensive pieces of equipment sold at a fraction of their original price.

4. Ask for Advice. If buying brand new the store staff is ones best friend. Beginners should be honest about their skill levels when shopping for golf clubs. Store employees are trained to match clubs to peoples skill levels. Hence by telling the truth a person is assured of getting a right-fitting set of golf equipment.

5. Research. The Internet has a lot of tips and suggestions on choosing golf equipment. Not everything would be accurate or would apply to everyone. Hence it is important when doing research through the Internet to check if the tip advice or suggestion applies to ones situation. Spend as much time reading articles about golf equipment. Most if not all of them are free. By following this and the other suggestions above one increases his or her chances of getting the right golf clubs.
