DIY Golf Cart Upgrades They Arent As Expensive or As Difficult As You Might Think

Jan 15, 2015 5:34 PM
Todays golf cart industry has grown immensely and with that so has the parts and accessory industry. There are many golf cart shops that handle repairs custom builds parts accessories and anything else you may want or need for your favorite golfing ride.

You go out to the course the beach sometimes in your own neighborhood or community and you will find people on golf carts. Most of which are head turners to say the least. Body kits lift kits fancy wheels stereos you name it. Now you cant tell me that you never told yourself or anyone else Hey check that out or I wish my cart looked that good. We all do but dont worry. It isnt as expensive as it looks. Most of those fancy add-ons can be done by you right at home and dont cost as much as you might think.

For Example:

Windshield

uses about 6 to 8 screws to install
requires a drill and a screwdriver
comes with directions
cost less than $100.00

Tires and Wheels

tires come pre-mounted to wheels if bought as a set
requires a jack and a lug wrench to install
cost ranges from $500-up

Rear Seat

requires a few hand tools like wrenches and screwdrivers (maybe a hacksaw in some cases)
comes with directions
a good Saturday project for father and son or two buddies
cost $300-up depending on how fancy you want it to be

These were just a few examples of things that you can do inexpensively and on your own. And you can buy them all over the place these days.

Now if you have the cash and want to spare no expense there is a lot more you can do to your cart as well.

You can completely change the body to look like a jeep a hummer or whatever else you like. There are dash board replacements seat covers grille guards light kits replacement tops and many other fancy cart toys out there.

The possibilities are endless for customizing your cart whether it be for golfing the beach around town in the neighborhood or just to have your own little green vehicle. The only real restrictions are your imagination your wallet and in some cases golf course regulations.

Really and truly I think golf carts are the vehicle of the future. Not necessarily on the road but they are an inexpensive source of neighborhood transportation they make a wonderful ranch vehicle and they are generally safer less expensive and more comfortable than most ATVs.
