Opened in 1975 Joel Goldstrand was the course architect.
The course has a Open guest policy.

The Madison Golf & Country Club (MCC) is a hidden jewel in eastern South Dakota which features an 18-hole regulation length golf course.  The MCC is a semi-private course featuring stunning views of Lake Herman and a distinctive golf experience.  The MCC integrates subtle change in elevation with natural woodland areas and the beauty of adjacent grass habitat.  Several holes have strategically placed bunkers with the drama of several water features, ponds, and creeks golfers must manage.
The diversity of landscape, rolling hills, and professionally maintained course makes the MCC a shot-makers dream and a favorite among South Dakota golfers.  The 18-hole, 6,132yd, par 71 course is designed to offer an enjoyable round for golfers of all abilities.  Don’t let the yardage mislead you. The MCC is not easily conquered with one of the highest slope ratings (130 blue, 126 white, 122 red) in the state.   The signature features of the MCC are four of the toughest par three’s in the state, par four’s requiring pin-point accuracy on blind tee shots, and a combination of risk-reward par five’s creating a beautiful harmony of golf holes challenging your skills and mind.
