Does the ball make a difference for Mid-to-High handicappers?

Jul 11, 2014 3:46 PM
I don't have a specific ball that I play.  As long as it's white, in good shape (not cracked, scuffed, etc) and a brand that I know of... I'll play it.  Since I'm a mid-90's type player (no official handicap) I figure I'm not good enough to know the difference in how a ball plays or that it really affects me.  I can see why it matters to pros and really good players, but it seems like I have bigger things to worry about, namely putting a good swing on the ball.

Do you guys think it affects me more than I do?  Maybe just consistency is the biggest thing.  If I'm always playing different balls I might never get a good feel for how much roll out I'll get on chips, how far a full pitching wedge (assuming it's struck well) will carry, etc.  Just curious on people's thoughts.
