Course InfoKillearn began in 1964 with the idea of creating communities that would cater to the lifestyles of the upwardly-mobile middle class in Tallahassee, Florida. Through the years, the company has been extraordinarily successful in achieving this goal and was credited with "changing the way the capital city of Florida lives."
Killearn, founded by J. T. Williams and now in the second generation of Williams family leadership, developed two 4,000 acre master-planned communities in Tallahassee, known as Killearn Estates, and Killearn Lakes Plantation which includes Golden Eagle Country Club. Killearn is currently developing Eagle's Landing, Eagle's Brooke and Durham Lakes in metro Atlanta, Waterfall Country Club at Lake Burton and Kingwood Resort in the North Georgia Mountains.
In all Killearn communities, the natural beauty of the land is carefully preserved and enhanced with long-range development plans that maintain strict design standards, sensible protective covenants and planned supervision. Killearn's commitment to these regulations has historically produced an increase in property values. Additionally, Killearn has a reputation of working with local government in a cooperative manner in order to provide "smart" growth. As a mixed-use developer, Killearn specializes in determining the best use of the land. Whether the newest project is commercial, office, light industrial or residential, Killearn will be "hands on" for each step of the process.
Because of the demand in the market, there is a greater degree of professionalism required from the land developer today. The developer must not only be experienced in land planning, they must also have a handle on property management, tax planning, accounting, sales and marketing. From the initial concept, through the construction, and to the last sale, Killearn has the experience and relationships to ensure the development's success. Killearn's proven formula has developed communities where over 10,000 families live, work and play.
